Babi Guling,Ibu Oka, Ubud

When I arrived in Ubud at 1pm, I walked passed this open air restaurant and had to stop to take this pic.
It was kinda crowded at that time of the day. I didn't have time to eat on my 1st day there but I came back on the 2nd day almost 4pm when the restaurant was quiet and no people.

I asked the driver from my day tour about the restaurant and he said it's pretty famous one in Ubud and the price is kinda pricey. However I still wanted to try especially when it was no people and I was so hungry hehe.

I opened the menu and the cheapest dish is the one I order which I can't remember the name. They have pictures and everything so it's easy to order anyway.

The dish I ordered was 30,000IDR which was kinda expensive when I found out that normally local food from local shops like pedang place cost only 10,000 - 15,000 IDR. And at Ibu Oka, there was 10% tax!!! WTF?!?!?!

Anyway I finished it so quick as I was soooo hungry after all day tour around Ubud. The taste was ok, not that special for me. It was just pork, crispy pork skin and sth crispy with lil bit of spices flavors. The sauce was not spicy at all for me (Thais who can eat spicy food everyday and every meal haha).

If you want to try, it's pretty famous place that you can ask any driver for direction. And I also can tell you now....the restaurant is at the junction of Ubud palace. If you turn your face to the palace and behind you it's Ubud information centre, then you will see this street next to the main one in front of you. Walk along the street beside palace (not the main one) and the restaurant is on your left side. So easy to find. You walk from main street like 1min :)

Ask people 'Where is Ibu Oka?' and they will tell you is what I will suggest you to do.

Bon appetit :)

Cheap and nice place to stay in Ubud

Hi all,

It's been too long that I haven't stopped by here as I have been kinda busy with the job that I talked about before lol. Anyway I'm still working with logistics company and kinda enjoy it little bit more than before.

I had a chance to work in Indonesia for few days and took extra days on weekend for travelling in Bali. I chose Ubud as many people said Kuta is for surfing and party. I was not in the mood for those at that time so Ubud was the answer and I can say that I really like Ubud!!!!!!!!

It's nice small town with not that much party vibe at all. People are nice including tourists. They aren't that party type.

I searched for many cheap hostels before but at the end I just walked around and found one. I was so lucky :)

The one I stayed was in the small street opposite Cafe Lotus, which is located near Starbucks. It's so easy to find! You just walk in the street and you will find the sign of accommodation on the right side.

It's called 'Anggada house'. It's more like homestay. The room I stayed is so big with big bed for 2 person and private bathroom. The sign say there is hot water but I didn't feel any hot from the water haha. Anyway I didn't have problem with cold water so it was all fine.

The view in front of the room was bamboo forest with running small river that you can hear the running sound all day and night. It's soooo nature!! I love it :)

And the price including local breakfast (small banana pancake, fruit and tea). You can bargain the price. I got it at 80,000 IDR per night (in low season which is in February).

The host are so nice. The location is so good. I hope you will enjoy staying there like me.
